Hell Has Froze Over.

Posted on: December 20, 2007

A co-worker and very good friend linked me to an article today that shows Internet Explorer 8 passed the acid2 test and is now more standards compliant than Mozilla. I didn’t believe him at first until I started reading. This is good news for web developers.
You can check out the Acid2 Browser Test here.

Next thing you know, Microsoft will embrace open source, play fair in the market place, and be consumer friendly. NOT! Just because a product follows standards doesn’t mean it’s quality work. All it means is that users of microsoft software will continue to use microsoft software as oppose to alternatives. The flip side is that both microsoft and competing vendors will have to win over users based on interoperability and quality now that standards are no longer a road block.
