Polaroid – Going Back to it’s Roots

Posted on: January 7, 2008

I remember back in my younger years the time when owning a Polariod camera was awesome, cool, and convenient. Being able to print your pictures out right there on the spot, how cool was that! Remember waiving the pictures around or blowing on them, trying to get the picture to hurry up and develop?

Well, this article on CNN announces that Polaroid is going back to it’s roots and plans to start selling a portable printer for images on cell phones and digital cameras.

Just like the old Polaroid instant-film cameras, they require no ink! The tiny printer will use thermal printing technology from startup Zink Imaging Inc. And to make it even more convenient, it’s said to weigh only 8 ounces and the size to be no bigger than a deck of cards.

What a great idea! I can’t believe it has taken them this long to figure it out! I know I would much rather be able print polaroid pictures than to have to take out an SD card and plug it into a printer at home.
